New Gear and Consumables

Whenever a new expansion lands there are plenty of ways to spend gold. While in this WOW Expansion -  Cataclysm, you won’t need much for the first 5 levels (up to the new max level of 85), you will need some big gold pile in your bank, as the second you hit 85, you will need to buy your first raiding gear, that is if you don’t want to grind on 5 man dungeons for two months.

Crafted epics were going for 1000+ gold each lest time, and you can expect them to go even higher this time around. Plus you will need a bunch of them to get yourself fully prepared.

Consumables as well are no better.

All together you are looking for up to 15,000 gold spend on this alone.

Mounts, Skills Ups, and Quests

In WotLK we got the mammoths, are new mounts types will be in Cataclysm?

The answer is – Probably Yes!

The mammoths where 10,000 to 20,000 gold, the new mounts will probably be even more expensive…

Plus all know that flying in the old world is coming, how much will it cost?

Don’t forget your skills and professions!

If you don’t want to wait for a few months to gather all the items and mats you will need to level them up you will probably need a few more thousand gold to start with. Yes you will get it back, but you will need to invest your gold to make any profit, and you will need to make it to top level fast to exploit the high prices in the beginning of the expansion.

Expect for at least 10,000 gold if not double that…

Why you need gold for Quests?!?

Don’t forget all those early quests that you’ll get gouged on. Remember the Overcharged Capacitor. Greedy Engineers (like me) were making 150 gold a pop on those puppies last time around.

Also some quests are way to much time consuming – so you will want to just buy your way through them.

This is 1000 to 2000 more gold out from your pockets…
