You can buy a basic WOW mount from a mount vendor for gold without any special needs or demands except for high reputation with the race of the mount vendor.
Most basic WOW mounts are associated with a particular race – so sometimes these are called racial mounts.
In order to buy a basic mount from your race mount vendor you don’t need anything except for gold. But, although you can buy the mount anytime, you will need to have high enough level and for you to ride the mount you will need to have the Riding skill needed for that WOW mount. For other races mounts (within your faction – Alliance or Horde) you will need to have Exalted reputation with that race.
You can usually find the vendor right next to the Riding trainer.
The exceptions are the armored mounts sold by Mei Francis in Dalaran.
If you want to start collect WOW mount for that 100 mount achievement a good way is to for the basic mount first. Alliance & Horde WOW players can get up to 43 WOW mount. The Exalted reputation with all your faction races can contribute to your game in many other ways, but even if you don’t truly need the reputation – you will get most of it from just playing the game, so most of the work is done for you anyway.
Unlock other races WOW mount by getting Exalted reputation with that race will open 6-7 mount for you – for each and every one your faction races. You can’t get so many WOW mount at a time in any other way.
