Secrets References in WOW

One of the best things in WOW, at least for this ”old” WOW players, is the Secrets References for many real life events, items and so forward…

WOW have hundreds if not thousands of those small Secrets References, here are some of the most known ones:

Movies WOW Secrets References:

Fight Club: In the Undercity, at the War Quarter, there’s a Fight Club where you’ll find two NPC named Edward and Tyler.

Matrix: In Ironforge near the Auction House, ask one of the guards for the location of the alchemy trainer. One of his answers will be: “why, oh why didn’t I take the blue potion?”

Star Trek: In Booty Bay, just outside the inn, you can find Chief Engineer Scooty manning a teleportation device. Go through the device and you’ll find a character named Sprok and his away team.

Star Wars: In the Shimmering Flats you can find a goblin race team with a very familiar looking vehicle. Yes the Sebulba’s podracer from Episode I.

Ghost Busters: In the Mage Quarters of Stormwind, you’ll find three mages-in-training talking. Hang around long enough and one of them will say “wouldn’t that be bad, like crossing the streams bad?”

Conan: In the Badlands you can find a semi-hidden crypt. Enter the crypt and you’ll see a decomposed guy sitting on a throne with a sword to his side. It’s a scene from the first Conan movie.

Books WOW Secrets References:

Charles Dicken’s, A Tales of Two Cities: In the upper levels of Booty Bay, there’s a clothing shop with the name “A Tailor to Cities”

Daniel Keyes’, Flowers for Algernon: In the Undercity, you’ll find Algernon at the alchemy trainer’s holding a flower.

Games WOW Secrets References:

In northern Un’goro Crater, there’s a camp where you can find two residents, the feuding brothers, Larion and Muigi. This is an anagrams of Mario and Luigi and they are even decked out in red and green overalls. Also in Un’goro Crater, you will find a cave filled whit gorillas that will drop an Empty barrel, another Nintendo old game reference – Donke-Kong…

In Uldaman instance, you can find three dwarves: Baelog, Olaf and Erik “The Swift.” This is a reference from The Lost Vikings—the first game Blizzard created for the Super Nintendo back in ‘92.

One of the best WOW Secrets References is for the ZELDA  game. This is a 13 part chain quest that start with “It’s a Secret to Everybody” quest in Un’goro Crater and end in “It’s Dangerous to Go Alone” that will reward you with – Linken’s Sword of Mastery and Linken’s Boomerang. The two ZELDA weapons…

The Boomerang is a Trinket with 3 minutes cooldown that make damage and has a chance to stun or disarm the target.

Other WOW Secrets References:

As I said there are many other Secrets References in WOW, and that is what make this game so much fun.
